Hello Americans - what the video doesn't tell you, is that most of these slang words are quite specific to a particular demographic - middle to upper class English people. Although these words would be understood in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, 'beastly', 'jolly' 'poppycock' and one or two others would never be used amongst the general population of the Celtic nations. Actually, unless done humorously, using these words even for the regular English person would be unusual. It would certainly clash in a confusing way with most regional accents.

I say Toodle pip old bean all the time when saying goodbye to family, does that make me posh, or just weird? I don’t think I want to know the answer!
